Bagging Machine Buying Guide: Pneumatic or Electric, Single or Dual Position

How to choose a bagging machine on the four variables that actually matter — material, bag, bags per hour and head height — and when a second operator position pays for itself.

Every bagging machine does the same basic thing: it puts a measured weight of material into a bag. The differences decide how fast, how accurately and how much labour it takes — and those are what you are actually buying.

Variable 1 — the material

Grain and granular material flows; powder bridges and dusts. For grain, a gate-type bagging scale works well. For flour, starch, feed premix or chemical powder you need an auger-fed powder filling machine with a sealed filling head and dust extraction.

Variable 2 — the bag

Bag weight and bag type set the weighing range and the clamp. Woven PP bags, paper bags and PE bags behave differently: paper needs support, PE needs a good seal at the spout. Tell the supplier the bag, not just the weight.

Variable 3 — bags per hour and how many operators

With one operator, output is limited by how fast one person can clamp, fill, release and close. Two paths to more output:

If your team is already two people around one machine, the dual-position version usually pays for itself quickly. If you pack a few hundred bags a week, a single position is enough — do not buy speed you will not use.

Variable 4 — head height and layout

Machines with a weigh hopper are taller. In an existing building with limited head height, a hopperless bagging scale that weighs directly in the bag solves the problem and also makes cleaning between materials easier.

Pneumatic or electric?

Pneumatic machines are simple and robust and suit plants that already have compressed air. Electric machines do not depend on an air supply and give a fast, repeatable cycle. Neither is "better" — the right answer depends on your plant. Both are available in our range.

What to check before signing

  1. Ask for accuracy for your bag weight and material, not a generic figure.
  2. Confirm the machine can be adjusted between the bag sizes you actually use.
  3. Ask what wears out and how fast, then ask the price of those parts.
  4. Check spare parts availability in your country before you need them.
  5. Confirm the voltage and phase the machine will be built for.

The questions we ask first

Material and bulk density, bag weight and bag type, bags per hour, head height, power supply and destination country. Answer those six and the machine can be configured to your line instead of matched to a catalogue photo.
