Double-Deck Gravity Separator for Grain & Seed Cleaning
Two vibrating decks with adjustable air flow separate shrivelled, sprouted and insect-damaged kernels from good grain by density, then grade the good fraction by weight and size.
Overview
A gravity separator (also called a density separator or specific gravity separator) is the machine that decides how good your grain looks and how well it germinates. It takes grain that is already free of stones and dust and separates it by density: light, shrivelled, sprouted, mould-affected and insect-damaged kernels float up and out, sound kernels stay on the deck.
The double-deck version runs two decks in series. The upper deck removes light material and dust; the lower deck performs the fine density grading. This gives a cleaner separation than a single pass and is the usual choice for seed plants and high-capacity grain depots.
What it removes
Shrivelled and immature kernels, sprouted grain, kernels damaged by insects or mould, chaff and dust, and light non-grain material. It also grades sound grain into heavy and light fractions when a customer wants density grading rather than simple cleaning.
Materials handled
Wheat, corn (maize), soybean, paddy and brown rice, barley, sorghum, rapeseed and other oilseeds, plus pulses, sunflower seed and a wide range of vegetable seeds. Settings differ per material — the deck angle, air flow and feed rate are all adjustable on site.
Choosing a gravity separator
Three things decide the configuration: the material and its bulk density, the throughput you need in tonnes per hour at your cleanliness target, and how clean the incoming grain already is. If you run several materials, tell us all of them so the machine can be set up with marked positions for each. We confirm capacity for your specific material in the technical agreement rather than quoting a single headline number.
Why buyers choose this machine
Enclosed design keeps dust inside and the workplace clean; the deck and screens are accessible for cleaning between materials; wear parts are standard items, so seed and grain plants in remote areas are not dependent on imported specials.
Caractéristiques principales
- Dual-deck design: light fraction removal, then density grading
- Adjustable air flow and deck angle per material
- Enclosed dust-proof body with inspection access
- Handles grain, oilseeds, pulses and vegetable seed
- Quick deck and screen cleaning between materials
- Wear parts available as standard stock items
Avantages
- Better separation than a single pass
- Handles many materials with on-site adjustment
- Dust stays inside the machine
- Standard wear parts
Principe de fonctionnement
Grain is fed onto a vibrating, inclined deck while air is blown up through the deck. Light and damaged kernels lift and travel to the light outlet; sound kernels stay in contact with the deck and discharge at the heavy outlet.
Applications typiques
- Seed processing plants
- Grain depots and purchase stations
- Rice mills
- Oilseed and pulse processing
- Feed and food processors
- Seed production where germination matters
- High-capacity grain cleaning lines
- Plants running several materials
